Reading striker Noel Hunt admits he may have to move on in the summer but will battle for a new deal regardless.
Hunt has figured on a regular basis for the Royals this season but there is still no sign of a new deal and he could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Much could depend on who takes over as the club’s next boss but Hunt says he will continue to battle for his future mindful of the fact he may need to find a new home in the summer.
“I love being here. I’ve been here a long time and the club is part of me – that’s never going to change,” he revealed. “Hopefully I can get a contract here, but if not I’ll have to be realistic and look somewhere else, that’s the nature of the game. If I have to do it, then so be it.
“We’ll just have to wait and see what the new manager wants and what the owner wants. They know I want to stay but it’s down to them if they give me a contract so we’ll wait and see.
“I’ve been here a long time and I haven’t been with a better bunch of lads. Eamon’s also come in and he’s been superb in the last nine or 10 days.”
