An official appeal has been launched by Nottingham Forest as the club look to overturn the four-point deduction handed out for breaking Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The club have dropped into the relegation zone because of the sanction and have now issued a statement confirming their plans to appeal.

A club statement read: "Nottingham Forest can confirm that it has today lodged an appeal against the four point sanction imposed by the Commission in relation to the Club’s breach of the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR). The club will not be making any further statement at this time."

It remains to be seen if Nottingham Forest's move will be successful but they will be aware that Everton saw a 10-point reduction reduced to six on appeal. The final decision on Forest's sanction is likely to have a big impact on the battle to avoid relegation from the English top flight this season. Forest currently sit in 18th place, one point behind Luton Town and four shy of Everton in 16th. However, the Toffees are facing a second points deduction which could drop them down the table again.
