Calciomercato reported last week that Serie A side Lazio had shown interest in United outcast Mason Greenwood and had reportedly submitted a bid worth around €25m (£21m/$27m). They had even set a deadline of July 8 to seal a deal for the winger.

Club President Lotito, however, dismissed the rumour about them chasing the player again this season as he claimed that Greenwood is a closed chapter for the Italian side since they failed to land him on the deadline day last summer. He further claimed that they have identified another player as their primary and that he is 10 times better than the former Getafe star.
WHAT LAZIO PRESIDENT SAID
Speaking to reporters, Lotito said, "Greenwood? Last year we were 20 minutes late due to a mismatch between the markets in Italy and England and so he fell through. I had signed Greenwood last year but you didn't even know who he was. He fell through due to a mismatch of an hour between the two markets and the facts proved me right because he then did well.
"But it's not just Greenwood, there are also other players that you don't even know. If I told you a name, which I won't tell you because I want to keep you curious, that is worth 10 times Greenwood."
